Empire State Grand Council History
In the Fall of 1943, the late Rev. H. B. Womack had a vision and desire to establish
a Scottish Rite Organization in the State of New York. Through Dr. R.G. Butcher Monroe, VA, National Grand Tyler: Rev. Womack
with 18 men organized Williamsburg Masonic Circle No. 1. This was the beginning of New York State having lodges under the
National Supreme Council.
Williamsburg Masonic Circle along with several other lodges were organized and known
as Mecca Grand Lodge, that name was later changed to the Empire State Grand Council. Since 1943 the following Grand Deputies
have served under the Empire State Grand Council:
